Tomorrow (Tuesday the 8th of April), the Wellington Teacher Trainees Association will present Marian Hobbs (as MP for
Wellington Central) with a placard signed by students demanding that the Fees Maxima [that the government is putting in
place] is set at a low level for the next academic year.
"We are demanding that Student Teacher fees be set at a low level to plug the exodus of qualified teachers leaving
overseas."
"At the same time however, we are demanding that the Government put money into the system to ensure that the quality is
at a high level."
"The Government needs to recognise that these people will be teaching the future of New Zealand and if it wants its
"Knowledge Society" then it is going to have to recognise that."

The presentation will be made at between 3:15 and 3:45 on the footsteps of Parliament by myself (Greg Henderson, the
President of the Association, and Louise Stack, the Vice President.

President from the Victoria University of Wellington Students' Association.
