In an unusual finish Mat Dowling, winner of the Pizza Hut Scarfie Triathlon, has also won the Burger King Eating
Competition, as part of the Otago Polytechnic's StudentCard Orientation 2003.
A special round preceded the grand final where spectators could challenge the StudentCard champion -the 'winners'
getting to throw cream cakes at the champion as their prize. However 'Jar-jar' managed to finish first and avoided a
good creaming, but later rewarded his boss with a spare cream cake…
In grand final the experienced competitors caked in a mixture of meat pie, chocolate mouse and V quickly demolished
their 'meals' in a close finish, though Matt behind in the early stages caught up and finished easily ahead of the rest.
Matt, is a twenty year-old nursing student at the Otago Polytechnic and was last seen heading towards the University of
Otago hoping to win some of their competition as well.
