Auckland International College Annnounces New Appointment
Auckland International College (AIC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Doug Haynes to the position of Executive Principal.
Doug Haynes (MA, Dip Ed, Dip Tchg, Grad Cert Research & Analysis, Cert Quality Systems) has been a teacher of history, geography and social sciences in New Zealand and the United Kingdom, and a Deputy Principal of Howick College, Auckland.
Doug, who started at the College on October 16 2002, has a background in quality management. Previously, he has been an Inspector of Schools, a Ministry of Education Liaison Officer and a Quality Analyst with the New Zealand Qualifications Authority.
“I’m enjoying the new challenges of a brand new school and the breadth of the programmes it is offering to students,” he says.
Most recently Doug has been a Programme Leader at Auckland University of Technology, working in secondary and tertiary teacher education as well as facilitating research and professional development contracts.

Facts
Auckland International College is situated at purpose-built premises at 85 Airedale Street in Auckland’s CBD, which were completed in December 2002.
The new AIC premises have an extensive library, computer suites, self-access learning centre and “state-of-the-art” classrooms with multi media facilities.
The College is made up of three operational branches – the Senior School, The School of Foundation Studies and the English Language Centre.
The English Language Centre opens this month, the School of Foundation Studies in July, and the Senior School in July 2004.
The Senior School
Will deliver the International Baccalaureate Diploma programme to high school students – Year 12-13. This is an urban, co-educational, secular school for mostly international students from non-English speaking backgrounds.
The School of Foundation Studies
Will deliver a Certificate in Foundation Studies Programme developed in partnership with the Auckland University of Technology. Aimed at international non-English speaking students aged 17 years and over who are preparing themselves for further studies at tertiary level. It will prepare students for entry into New Zealand Universities.
English Language Centre
The English Language Centre is the first AIC division to begin operation with the first intake of students scheduled for this month. The ELC will deliver programmes including general English, English for academic purposes and a Tertiary Study preparation certificate, developed jointly by the Auckland University of Technology and Auckland International College.
