Gute Nacht Dr Korndorffer, this is not the end…
“Good night Dr. Korndorffer” was the first reaction from Phil Baskerville the President of the Otago Polytechnic Students’ Association when he heard Otago Polytechnic CEO, Dr. Wand Korndorffer, tendered her resignation last night.
The resignation follows mid-year votes of No Confidence from the Student and Staff associations, and a damning auditor’s report released in October
“Dr. Korndorffer’s resignation was the icing on this year’s cake.” said Mr Baskerville, adding “We called for her resignation much earlier in the year, and have been expecting it ever since the auditor’s report.”
Mr Baskerville was quick to mention all the people that have helped this year, Brooke Lawton, all the students that voted ‘No Confidence’ in the CEO, the staff unions TIASA and ASTE, and numerous nameless individuals. “I have had a great year serving the students and I have now kept my promise to a lot of people” concluded Mr Baskerville.
However OPSA exec member, Brook Lawton, warns that the current problems don’t end with the CEO’s resignation. “Dr. Korndorffer was a small part of a bigger problem, processes need changing starting with a restructuring of the Polytechnic council and some governmental responsibility” stated Mr Lawton.
