AUT Has Successful First Outing At Blues Awards
Two AUT students have been recognised in this years University Blues Awards.
Business student George Taamaru won a powerlifting Blue, and Josephine Giffney was awarded a Blue for waterpolo.
The awards are given in recognition of outstanding achievement in sport, and are a milestone for AUT.
"This is the first time that AUT has participated in the University Blues Awards" says AuSM President David Victor, "and it was great to see two AUT students take out prizes."
AUT and AuSM have recently initiated the joint development of a Sports Council, which has overseen the development of new sport and recreation clubs on campus as well as the participation in the New Zealand University Games.
"On behalf of AuSM and the Sports Council I would like to congratulate George and Josephine," says Mr Victor.
"Further, I believe that AUT and AuSM's commitment to campus sport will result in even more AUT students stepping up to the podium to receive more Blues awards next year", he added.
