No Confidence in ‘Tech CEO - Staff
OPSA President, Phil Baskerville, today expressed support for the Association of Staff in Tertiary Education’s (ASTE)
vote of no confidence in the Otago Polytechnic’s CEO, Wanda Korndorffer. At today’s meeting 97% of staff voted for the
motion.
“This is an overwhelming signal that something is very wrong inside the Polytechnic.” said Mr. Baskerville.
OPSA’s concerns started with the recent redevelopment that went vastly over budget, and the implementation of new
systems that have not worked properly.
“OPSA is very concerned about the Polytechnic’s recent financial blow-out and the implications it will have on students
and staff.” said Mr. Baskerville.
OPSA has meet with the CEO regarding these concerns. These meetings have not been productive, with no resolutions or
acceptable answers.
“Some of our executive are now too intimidated to meet face to face with her to discuss student concerns.” said Mr.
Baskerville.
As the bulk of student holidays start today, OPSA is calling for a Special General Meeting on the first week back in
July.
