Following the appointment of Robin McMurray as its foundation principal, a name has been chosen for the new Secondary School being built opposite the Botany Town Centre in Chapel Road Howick. The new school will be known as Botany Downs Secondary College
“Botany Downs” was a popular choice after suggestions were solicited from the community recently and the Board would like to thank all those who contributed name suggestions for the school. “Secondary College” clearly identifies both nationally and internationally, the level of education the new school will ultimately provide for (Years 9 to 13). Botany Downs Secondary College will open at the beginning of 2004 for Year 9 students only.
Botany Downs Secondary College has formed the beginnings of a partnership with the Botany Town Centre who have provided office space for the College Staff and Board until the new school opens in January 2004. The office will be located on the upper floor in Fountain Lane South adjacent to the Daikoku Restaurant. The Principal, Mr Rob Mc Murray will be located in this office from July this year.
