REVIEW OF SPECIAL EDUCATION
Specialist Education Services (SES) Chief Executive Dr. Peter Cowley said today that the review of Special Education 2000 identifies what is working well under the present structure, but also contains significant recommendations for the future of the service.
"The report identifies many gaps in the provision of special education and acknowledges the many issues and difficulties parents, families and whanau face. It also acknowledges the contribution and considerable expertise of SES staff.
It is clear that implementation of recommendations could result in significant change for SES, and that implementation could take some time.
The Government is committed to providing quality education to children and young people with special learning needs.
We will work with the Government to ensure that children and young people with special education needs get the best possible service. That remains our focus." Dr. Cowley said
