Te Tari Puna Ora O Aotearoa/NZ Childcare Association members are pleased that the Hon. Steve Maharey has announced
increases to availability of hours under the Childcare Subsidy provisions.
Rose Cole, Chief Executive, congratulated the Minister on this move, which will provide some financial relief for
families using Childcare services while at work or in training.
"The increase in eligible subsidised hours to a maximum of 37 hours per week better reflects the time parents take in
work or education" Mrs Cole said. "This will encourage other families to make use of the subsidy and increase
accessibility to Early Childhood Education for young children".
"We look forward to the same consideration being extended to Ministry of Education funded hours, which are currently
capped at 30 hours per week. Children may spend up to 55 hours per week in Childcare services,
