NZ Childcare Association Delighted with Changes

Te Tari Puna Ora O Aotearoa/NZ Childcare Association members are pleased that the Hon. Steve Maharey has announced increases to availability of hours under the Childcare Subsidy provisions.
Rose Cole, Chief Executive, congratulated the Minister on this move, which will provide some financial relief for families using Childcare services while at work or in training.
"The increase in eligible subsidised hours to a maximum of 37 hours per week better reflects the time parents take in work or education" Mrs Cole said. "This will encourage other families to make use of the subsidy and increase accessibility to Early Childhood Education for young children".
"We look forward to the same consideration being extended to Ministry of Education funded hours, which are currently capped at 30 hours per week. Children may spend up to 55 hours per week in Childcare services,
