After the Occupation -
Which Way Now?
1pm, Wednesday 5th April
The Womens Room, behind the Cowshed
University of Waikato Campus
Come and meet the Fightback activists who together with students in Auckland, Canterbury, Victoria and Massey took action last week. They have given the Labour Party the chance to respond to their demands, which are-
1. Free Education For All (funded by taxing the top 5% of earners)
2. Universal Student Living Allowances
3. Dumping of Student Debt
4. Reinstating the Emergency Unemployment Benifit
5. An end to the Privatisation of University Services
6. Democratic control of Universities including Student Reps at
Managerial Level.
7. Adequate government funding to tertiary providers.
8. Adequate research funding not controlled by corporate interests.
9. Removal of non financial barriers, including but not limited to
Women, Maori, Pacific Islanders, International, Queer and
Disabled students.
10. No Police to be used against students on Campus.
We intend to debate the way forward for the movement, and the logistics of
hosting the next national Hui here in Ham if the other campuses are
willing.
