School Staffing Review Project Under Way
Hutt Valley High School principal Graeme Marshall is to be the project manager for the Government's review of school staffing, the Secretary for Education, Howard Fancy, announced today.
The School Staffing Review Group, which will be chaired by the Minister of Education and comprise representatives of key sector groups, will advise the Government on overall staffing levels for the school sector.
Howard Fancy said that with a focus on improving education outcomes the review would take account of factors such as rurality, school size, the workloads of teachers and principals, the particular education needs of Maori and Pacific Islands students and changes to the curriculum.
"As project manager, Graeme Marshall brings a wealth of experience, both as an educator and a school administrator," said Howard Fancy. "His knowledge and ability will be invaluable in helping the Ministry to meet the Government's objectives with respect to this review."
Graeme Marshall will plan and manage the work programme for the review of school staffing, and will chair the review group when the Minister is unavailable.
