On Tuesday the 28th of March, hundreds of students in Victoria University go into occupation. All over New Zealand, from Auckland to Christchurch, rallies are being held in solidarity with them.
Fightback Waikato, the campaign for free education, in conjunction with the Waikato Students Union, has organised a Rally for Free Education at 1.30pm on Wednesday the 29th. The rally will take place in front of the Banks walkway.
The rallies all round NZ will be demanding that the new government abolish student loans and replace them with a Universal Student Living Allowance. They will also be calling for the abolition of tuition fees and the cancellation of student debt, that has now passed the $4 billion mark.
