The Rural Community Trust and TransPower NZ Ltd has announced the awarding of TransPower Tertiary Scholarship grants to
twelve rural young people.
The total awarded this year to the 12 recipients is $9,500, and individual grants are between $500 to $1,000.
Trust Spokesperson Tom Lambie said that, "the Trustees examined the student's academic record, alternative sources of
funding and their own contribution."
"The Trust recognises that the extra travel and distance from family that rural students face when attending university
can be a barrier."
The grants are to assist young people from rural areas attend university and can be used for any of the student's
tertiary expenses.
The Rural Community Trust also welcomed Pioneer® brand Products as a new Principal Member.
