Angry Students to Rally outside WINZ

A group of Auckland University students are angry at the mishandling of student loan applications by WINZ that has seen some students still awaiting finalisation of loans that were applied for before Christmas.
The group of education activists based at Auckland University, known as Fightback!, is planning to rally outside the WINZ Student Services branch on Karangahape Rd at midday on Tuesday.
“The loans scheme has been an absolute shambles. Rankin’s pathetic attempts to deny responsibility and failure to apologise while thousands of students are facing the prospect of starting semester without their fees paid or money for living costs is unacceptable,” said Eva Neitzert, a spokesperson of the group.
“We call upon Rankin to resign and the government to clean up this mess rather than spending time whinging about the previous governments mistakes,” concluded Ms Neitzert.
