The Chancellor of Victoria University, Russell Marshall, said today that the University was legally constrained in
commenting on the departure of its Vice Chancellor, Professor Michael Irving.
“The University Council has at all times received and followed legal advice in its handling of this matter,” Mr Marshall
said.
“We have acted and will continue to act in the best interests of the University and in accordance with our legal
obligations.”
Mr Marshall said that the Council was committed to assisting the University to maintain and enhance its excellent
environment for learning and research.
