Young entrepreneurs bring major international act to Christchurch
Fresh from playing the main stage at Rampage- the world’s most explosive Drum n Bass festival, Hedex is ready to make
Christchurch jump.
He’s coming because of two ambitious university of Canterbury students. Christy Kimble and James Moir have just launched
Sub180, an entertainment company that aims to bring high impact events to Christchurch.
They’ve been running events through University clubs and felt like it was time to step into the real world of events.
“It just happened organically. We found a real love for it. The long days and long nights are always worth it when you
see so many people having a great time.”
They’re about to put on their first show with Wanganui based rap group Machete Clan- their show in Dunedin has already
sold out.
Sub180 are bringing Wanganui rap group Machete Clan down to the South Island for the first time.
Hailing from Huntingdon in the UK, Hedex is most known for his smash hit Forever. Joining them will be local DJ’s Catch
22, Cabin Fever, NFX, Uncle Dabz and Camo MC.
Sub180 is collaborating with Pulzar FM for the event. Pulzar FM station manager Camerin Jago says he’s extremely excited
about bringing Hedex to New Zealand.
“For me, this will be one of the dopest DnB gigs of the year. This sound is massively unrepresented in Christchurch
right now so it’s so dope to see an artist of this calibre coming through.”
For fresh promotors Sub180, this is their first time bringing an international artist to New Zealand. 22-year-old
Promoter James Moir says that it’s going to be an event that no one will forget.
“We’ve been planning both shows for a long time. The show is going to be one hell of an experience. We’ve done
everything we can to blow people’s minds. The lights, the speakers… we’ve spared no expense.”
He says that it’s incredibly exciting to bring an international act of Hedex’s calibre.
“Cantabrians have been crying out for more international acts. I can’t wait.”
“How often can you say Christchurch was the first to get a major international act?”
Tickets for Hedex will be available from Ticket Fairy on the 6th September.
