Queenstown Rotary presents Australasian premiere of Night of the AdEaters
Queenstown is set to host the Australasian premiere of Night of the AdEaters – a screening of the world’s most
entertaining, innovative and thought-provoking ads.
Based on the concept popularised by Jean-Marie Boursicot in France in 1981, Night of the AdEaters is a global event
highlighting the best advertisements produced around the world over the past 50 years. Twelve million viewers in 172
cities across 52 countries have participated in this international celebration of the trends, creativity and passion
igniting the world of advertising.
Presented by the Queenstown Rotary Club, this film festival-style event will be held at Queenstown Memorial Hall on
September 15-16 for New Zealand’s inaugural screening of the programme.
The three-hour screening will be segmented by two intermissions during which attendees can enjoy wine and food. Chris
Mac from popular Kiwi band Six60 will be M.C. for the evening, providing entertainment during the show intermissions.
“When most people think of advertising, they think of annoying sales pitchy commercials,” says Rotarian, event
organiser, and immediate past-president, Monica Mulholland. “This event is a great chance for the Queenstown Community
to experience ads that defy that stereotype.
“Some of these ads are hilarious, while others are moving and thought-provoking – all are works of art and are almost
like short films in themselves,” she adds.
The Queenstown premiere of Night of the AdEaters is the Queenstown Rotary’s major fundraiser of the year, with event
proceeds going towards projects throughout the Wakatipu Community.
The event will be held on September 15 from 6:00pm-11:00pm, and on September 16 from 3:00pm to 8:00pm. Tickets are $55
