Today’s highlights
Swimming
It’s sink or swim at the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre this afternoon, with a huge number of Kiwis hoping to make their mark
in the pool.
The action kicks off at 1.25pm, LIVE on TVNZ 1. The men are up first with 200m Backstroke and 50m Freestyle heats. Watch
out for Sophie Pascoe around 1.25pm. Sophie will be looking to repeat Saturday’s gold medal winning performance in her
100m Breaststroke heat. The session finishes with the 200m Butterfly heats, where New Zealander Helena Gasson will no
doubt be making this incredibly difficult swimming stroke look easy!
Athletics
At 9pm, LIVE on TVNZ 1, the athletics are back!
First up, we’re crossing to the Javelin final. Holly Robinson is throwing and she’ll have to fend off tough competition
for a place on the podium tonight. Then at 10.20pm it’s time for the Shot Put final. Gold medal hope Tom Walsh smashed
the existing Commonwealth Games record with his first and only throw in qualifying. New Zealanders at home will be glued
to their screens to see whether the strong man can do it all over again. The evening wraps up on the track, where
Camille Buscomb is competing in the women’s 10,000m final at 10.45pm. Local commentary will be provided throughout by
David Basheer and Nikki Hamblin.
Netball
There was devastation on the court last night, when our Silver Ferns were left reeling following a 57-53 loss to Malawi.
Our netballers don’t have time to dwell on what could have been though; they’re facing Scotland in their next pool match
tonight, LIVE at 10.30pm on TVNZ Games Extra.
