The 24HourProject – Global street photography event on 7 April 2018
The 24HourProject gathers emerging photographers, aspiring photojournalist and visual storytellers from every city
around the globe to share their photos documenting humanity in real time during twenty-four hours of 7 April 2018.
Through the 24HourProject’s vision, reach and global exhibitions, the project reaches millions of individuals annually
showcasing the human connection of multiple cities from the point of view of local photographers. All level of
photographers are welcome to register (free) and document their own city as part of this global initiative. More

Believing in women human rights, in this 7th edition, the 24HourProject will also focus to document stories of women
around the world.
Vision
Each participant shares to social media one photo every hour for the 24 hours following 24HourProject guidelines. The
images, theme and content become a viral live view to the world hour by hour.
Photographers then select their best photos and submit their final 24 photos to www.24hourproject.org. Selected photos go to travel exhibitions, conferences, workshops and photo-books.

Mission
Document Humanity to Make a Difference. By bringing a world community of photographers together and creating
partnerships with NGOs, we aim to raise awareness of global issues and empowering those who need it most.
History
The 24HourProject was co-founded by two photographers, Renzo Grande and Sam Smotherman, in 2012. The idea began with a
personal project to document and compare two different cities for one full day. That same year, other photographers got
interested and on the first edition of the project there were 65 world photographers documenting 24 cities.
In the last 2017 edition, 3940 photographers participated in 840 cities from 112 countries. The global collaboration of
the project lead to gallery exhibitions in Australia, Finland, Iran, Italy, Malaysia, Mexico, Peru. Poland, United
States and Venezuela.
2018 Edition
This year the project goes live on April 7th, 2018. The same day for all participants starting at midnight their local
time. Participants will document the human condition and women stories of their own city.
As a way to empower women, this year the 24HourProject is collaborating with Shakti Vahini, a non-profit organization in
India which empowers, educates and defends women and their human rights.
Renzo Grande founder of 24HourProject together with Smita Sharma renowned photojournalist, will be conducting a three
day workshop to women at a small village in India. Workshop participants will receive cameras and will also document
their 24 hours sharing their own stories.
Photo Book
A photo book collecting stories and images from 2012-2017 is available as crowdfunding campaign at book.24hourproject.org. All profits go Human Trafficking Survivors in Nepal, Uganda and The Philippines and also to Refugees from the Middle
East at a Refugee Camp in Lesvos, Greece.
