Recurring themes of Imposter syndrome, fear and self-doubt lead life coach and author Jess Stuart to write a book to help New Zealand women unlock their potential and thrive at life.
‘Like a Girl’ officially launched this week (Wednesday 7 March) at the Thistle Inn in Wellington. A percentage of the profits sold on the night were donated to the women’s refuge.
Wellington resident Jess Stuart left a successful career in senior HR to follow her passion of delivering effective life coaching, personal development and life transformation through her ‘Inspire Your Life’ programmes.
After encountering a continuous stream of women facing self doubt, imposter syndrome and burnout in her coaching, Jess decided to write a guide with practical advice and tips to help women build resilience and leverage their strengths.
“Since the fight for equality, life has evolved and changed for women. There are more opportunities and with it, more challenges. We have become more powerful, yet busier. ‘Like a girl’ had a certain expectation when I grew up – a box to fit into and a ceiling on what we were supposed to be capable of achieving.
More and more women are facing over committed schedules and struggle to find balance in a world that places so much expectation on us. We’re busy doing everything in an attempt to please everyone and at the same time experiencing burnout. I was this person and that’s why I made the decision to give up my successful career, my relationship and start again. What it taught me in the process was a lot about myself, my values, how to face our fears and embrace our authenticity.
Like a Girl is an attempt to help women transform their life by giving them practical advice and tips for navigating fear, getting over self-doubt and mastering the art of balance and self-care. We know that globally 70% of people suffer from imposter syndrome* and more and more New Zealand women I see today are under pressure so I truly believe they will benefit from the book.” said Stuart.
Like a Girl (RRP $27NZD) is available online or via amazon. An ebook is available for download via amazon kindle which will be free until 12 March.
