KIWIS MAKE AN EARLY SURGE ON DAY TWO OF #NZOPEN99
New Zealanders Tim Wilkinson and Nick Voke have led the charge early in the second round at the ISPS Handa New Zealand
Open.
Wilkinson, playing at The Hills, started the day four under and birdied four of his first six holes to climb into a
share of sixth place.
Also playing at The Hills, Volk had a bogey, eagle and two birdies starting on the back nine to sit alongside Wilkinson
at eight under.
Overnight leaders Jarin Todd (United States) and Daniel Nisbet (Australia) are two under for the day to lead the
tournament at 11 under, with Japan’s Tatsuya Kodai slipping back to a share of fourth place at nine under, alongside
Australian Josh Younger (three under today).
A pair of birdies this morning have helped Travis Smyth to within a shot of the leaders at 10 under in outright third
place.
Australians Anthony Quayle and David Bransdon, along with Taiwan’s Chien-yao Hung (all four under today) are amongst the
other golfers to work their way up the standings.
The field for the 99th New Zealand Open have been playing in cool, overcast conditions at Millbrook Resort and The Hills
this morning, with rain expected for this afternoon.

As a major sponsor of the ISPS Handa New Zealand Open, Hyundai New Zealand are launching ‘Drive for Good’ that will put a spin on the traditional hole in one competition. Players will have the chance to win a brand-new Hyundai
Santa Fe for one of three awesome New Zealand charities and all Kiwis have the chance to vote for who they want to see
drive away in this great prize. If a hole in one is hit, on the 13th Hole at Millbrook, then the charity with the
highest votes at that time wins.
There’s also a $1000 prize pack up for grabs for voters. Commercial Director Tim Watts said “it’s great to have Hyundai
using their sponsorship to support organisations that give so much to kiwis and to have some fun in doing so”.
The action off the greens, has seen some of our Amateurs and Pro's enjoy some of the amazing experiences Queenstown has
to offer.
The week started with a Ceremonial Tee Shot on top of Coronet Peak, a welcome function for the Asian Tour at The Lodge Bar and then a trip aboard the TSS Earnslaw, trips to the Over the Top Golf for some of our pro's and the Village Green Open Night.
