Apply Now for Ignite 2018
Applications are now open for the IGNITE 2018 programme, which kicks off on April 7, and will see 10 music industry professionals mentoring the next generation of aspiring young event managers.
The youth development initiative was first launched in 2016 with the aim of empowering young people to pursue their
passion in music and events. Now the 12-week, Auckland-based, programme returns, offering placements for 10 young
people, aged 15-18. Each participant will be paired with an industry mentor, who will provide one-on-one support, advice
and practical information.
Participants will also further their skills at hands-on workshops, seminars and venue tours and get the opportunity to
apply their skills learnt to produce a music-based event at the end of the programme.
One deserving graduate will be awarded the MAINZ Scholarship to study a Diploma in Music and Event Management in 2019.

MEET THE MENTORS:
This year's mentors include a mix of high profile industry heavyweights, and up-and-comers who are fast establishing a
name for themselves in New Zealand music. They offer invaluable event experience and industry knowledge.

The final two mentors will be selected once the applications close, taking into consideration their musical interests
and aspirations, to best match the participant with an industry mentor.
The inaugural IGNITE programme in 2016 was met with great success, resulting in many of its participants moving on to tertiary education and
gaining work placements and internship opportunities across the industry. Hunter Keane, who was then a student at
Western Springs College, was awarded the MAINZ Scholarship to study a Diploma in Music and Event Management. He was
supported by mentor Anthony Metcalf and ran a concert featuring the band The Leers.
