MediaScrap Covers Best (and Worst) of the Small Screen

2 November 2017 – NZME’s WatchMe has launched its latest short-form comedy series, MediaScrap, which takes a look back each week at the gaffes and awkwardness from New Zealand’s small screens.

Hosted by Vaughan Smith from ZM’s Fletch, Vaughan and Megan, the first episode aired last week to over 154,000 views, and has already demonstrated that New Zealand has no shortage of awkward moments on TV, online and on-demand content to pull from.

The show is filmed, edited and published on the same day to make sure no comedic gold slips through the cracks. The eagle eyes of the team ensures all media mishaps will be captured and shared with New Zealand.

Cameron Death, Head of Video for NZME says MediaScrap is a natural evolution for the WatchMe portfolio. “We’re excited to bring to life a series that ever so lightly jabs at media mishaps from the past week, and bringing Vaughan on board to host has given the series an edge; he has outstanding comedic timing, and his experience as one of New Zealand’s favourite radio hosts makes him an effortless presenter.

“Our own shows and stations won’t be immune to a good roasting; Vaughan is very impartial in who he’ll take the mickey out of.”

MediaScrap is a great example of NZME fully utilizing all its platforms to reach a wide and ranging audience. MediaScrap is not only being housed on WatchMe, but will be popping up in the feeds of ZM, The Hits, Radio Hauraki and Flava fans, in addition to sitting on nzherald.co.nz.

New episodes will be released on Thursday afternoons. Watch this week’s episode here.
