Rising R’n’B star Kelela to visit New Zealand for the first time
One of the most talked about women in R’n’B right now, Kelela, has just announced her first-ever New Zealand show.
The rising star will play The Studio in Auckland on January 19, 2018.
It comes hot on the heels of the release of her debut album TAKE ME APART, which is receiving rave reviews in some of music’s most respectable publications.
“Kelela’s debut album is technically stunning and emotionally realized. It lives in a new, outre, rhythmic pop galaxy that honours but outpaces its peers”
- Pitchfork
“Her debut full-length fuses together jagged textures, vaporous synths and her versatile voice into forward-thinking R’n’B animated by its restless innovation”
- Rolling Stone
“One of the most arresting new voices in R has created a deft stitch in time, laying 90s R vocals over cutting-edge digital production techniques”
- The Guardian
Born in Washington DC and now based in LA, Kelela began her career singing jazz in cafes, before teaming up with the electronic duo Teengirl Fantasy and contributing to their 2013 album.
Fast forward to 2017 and she’s now a force to be reckoned with in her own right, and well and truly deserving of her reputation as one of 2017’s hottest acts.
Don’t miss your chance to see Kelela live on her first trip to New Zealand.
Tickets are $49 + BF and go on sale Thursday October 12 at 9.00am. Get your tickets athttp://bit.ly/KelelaAklTix
