NZ Web Fest Announces 2017 Award Nominees
The NZ Web Fest is excited to announce the local and international shows competing for awards at this year's event, #NZWF17.
40 shows have achieved nominations across 15 award categories.
The most nominated New Zealand webseries is AUCKWARD LOVE with five nods, including: Best Narrative Show, Best Director (Emmett Skilton), Best Ensemble Cast, Best Actress (nominations for Luci Hare and Holly Shervey).
AUCKWARD LOVE has had several award nominations and wins at international festivals this year, most recently Best Actress for Holly Shervey at the Portugal International Film Festival.
New Zealand shows nominated for #NZWF17 include local titles which have also received accolades at international festivals this year:
- documentary series AMY STREET, which won the top prize at the Melbourne Web Fest
- season 3 of HIGH ROAD, featuring Mark Mitchinson and Emma Thompson
- comedy THE WATERCOOLER, awarded at the DC Web Fest in Washington
The second most-nominated show at the NZ Web Fest is THE MAORI SIDE STEPS with four selections: Best Narrative Show, Best Director (Tamati Kawha), Best Ensemble Cast, and Best Actor (Cohen Holloway).
Two international shows also have four nominations, vampire comedy ORAZIO'S CLAN from Switzerland and drama HIGH LIFE from Australia (which stars 800 WORDS' Benson Jack Anthony).

The NZ Web Fest is presented with support from NZ On Air, Media Design School and Johnson & Laird Management. #NZWF17 runs 18 – 19 Novemberat Media Design School, Auckland.
On Saturday 18 November, #NZWF17 will present a day of industry panel discussions, presentations and screenings – including all titles nominated for awards – followed in the evening by the #NZWF17 awards ceremony.
Sunday 19 November will be a full day of screenings – including a special programme of all the #NZWF17 award winners plus some Q screenings with some of the show creators.
