Support Bands Announced for the Undertones NZ Tour
Mishap (Wellington) and Leatherhead (Auckland) will play their hometown support slots for legendary Irish punks The Undertones at San Fran on July 11and The Powerstation on July 12.
With just under a fortnight until The Undertones eagerly awaited first-ever NZ dates, the final 50 tickets for each show
have been released at UTR.co.nz (Wellington gig) and AAATicketing.co.nz (Auckland).
Over 40 years, The Undertones influence has spread far and wide. Their Teenage Kicks single (one of seven chart hits)
was the favourite single of all time for greatly influential UK DJ, John Peel.
More on Leatherhead
Leatherhead’s recent album Needles – released via Last Libretto Records in early 2017 received high praise from critics
at home and abroad.
Waiheke-based Leatherhead features Brendan Mooney (ex-guitarist for David Varian from The Damned), writer / vocalist
Bede Taylor, Moik Brennan (bass) and drummer Carl Blutner.
Marty Duda, 13th Floor on Leatherhead:
“Brendan Mooney’s...twitchy, tense guitar work intertwined with lead singer Bede Taylor’s impressive vocal range, who
oscillated between Nick Cave and Steve Albini in both mannerisms and delivery throughout their set.”
More on Mishap
Together since April 2016 - their no holds barred pop punk approach has rapidly attracted strong support. They’ve
already released two EPs, with music videos and regular gigging. In their own words: "We write our songs about girls,
teenage apathy, getting kicked out of school and our adventures that get us into trouble sometimes."
