Come on down and thank your volunteers

With National Volunteer Week running from 18-24 June, what better way to thank your volunteers than entering them for a Trustpower Community Award?
Trustpower and the Tararua District Council will be hosting a stall in both Dannevirke and Pahiatua on Thursday 22 June as an easy way to enter a voluntary group.
The stall will run from 11:00am – 12:30pm in Dannevirke outside the Warehouse and 2:00pm – 3:30pm in Pahiatua outside New World. They will also be giving out a free sausage sizzle to anyone who comes along and enters a group.
National Volunteer Week puts a huge spotlight on the special people who keep New Zealand’s communities humming – volunteers. This year’s theme is “Live, Laugh, Share, Volunteer”.
The Trustpower Tararua District Community Awards is one way of recognising these volunteers. The Awards acknowledge voluntary and community groups across five categories: Heritage and Environment; Health and Wellbeing; Arts and Culture; Sports and Leisure; and Education and Child/Youth Development. This year there is more than $5,000 up for grabs.
Trustpower Community Relations Representative Teresa Partridge says coming down to the stall is a great way to enter a group into the Awards, while it is fresh in your mind and you can get first-hand information about the Awards. Plus, you get a free sausage!
“We would love to see you down at the stall. It will only take a couple of minutes to fill out an entry form, and you are recognising the amazing work that is happening behind the scenes in your community.
Volunteers are the ones working hard in the background to create the amazing community culture that Tararua has. A lot of work in the community couldn’t happen without volunteers. Some even save our lives when we call on them – and this is often on top of work and family commitments too,” says Mrs Partridge.
Now it’s the community’s chance to get behind their local volunteers by entering them for the Trustpower Tararua District Community Awards.
Entries for the 2017 Trustpower Tararua District Community Awards close on Friday 21 July 2017.
