Magic Moment for Ariana Cable-Dixon
Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic training partner Ariana Cable-Dixon has been called into the Magic team as a replacement player for Sydney Fraser. Young gun Sydney Fraser is still making her way back from an achilles injury suffered late last year.
Cable-Dixon, a Te Awamutu local, has previously played for the Magic in the 2016 Preseason Tournament as a replacement player and captained the inaugural 2016 WBOP Beko team. As a midcourt player, predominately WA & C, Cable-Dixon brings speed and agility to the game. She is looking forward to the start of the season and relishing the opportunity to prove herself on court. " I feel very privileged to be a part of the Magic team. It has been great grinding it out during preseason and now that my hard work is paying off I am very excited".
Magic coach Margaret Forsyth has been pleased with Cable-Dixon's performance and ability. "She has performed solidly during training and our preseason matches and will be a great asset to the team in Sydney's absence". Forsyth acknowledges that it's tough to fill in for a team mate but Cable-Dixon has proven herself worthy of this opportunity.
Training with the team since before Christmas Ariana has built valuable connections and fits in well with the Magic team. Cable-Dixon says the team and players have a great culture. "The team have created a great vibe and I know everyone will bring that atmosphere out onto court with them".
With back to back home games the Magic are looking to make their mark in the new competition. Forsyth is looking forward to the first game and credits the players for their hard-work and determination.
The Magic begin their 2017 ANZ Premiership campaign VS the Tactix on March 26th, hosting the first ever Super Sunday featuring all six ANZ Premiership teams in three thrilling netball games - doors open at 1pm. The Magic have back to back games with a showdown against the Stars Monday 27th 7.40pm.
