Top K-Pop Dancer Brings Ground-Shaking Show to Botany Town Centre
She’s danced with some of the world’s hottest artists including Beyoncé and Justin Bieber, and choreographed for top
K-Pop acts BOA, Stephanie, SF9 and Monsta. Next week, Rina Chae brings her brand of explosive K-Pop dance to Botany Town
Centre.
Following on from a packed out performance at Auckland Live’s Summer in the Square last month, Chae’s dance troupe
Street Candee and some of Auckland’s best hip hop dancers will face off in four free half-hour outdoor performances at
Botany Town Centre on Friday 24th March: 4pm and 7pm and Saturday 25th March: 12pm and 1pm.
K-Pop, or Korean pop music, has exploded in popularity around the world - spurred by Psy’s smash-hit ‘Gangnam Style’.
It’s a genre known for its high-energy dance routines memorised by millions around the world, with a rapidly growing fan
base here in Auckland.
Internationally acclaimed choreographer Rina Chae is also offering a series of beginner K-Pop dance workshops at Red
Studio in Howick during the April school holidays. Spaces on the course are limited and are only $30 for six classes.
The K-Pop Showdown and workshops are being presented thanks to the support of the Howick Local Board.
These events are part of Satellites, a series of events, exhibitions and unexpected encounters showcasing Asian artists throughout Auckland’s diverse
suburbs. Satellites returns for its second year with the support of Auckland Council.
