Dawin Live

17 December, 2015 - American electronic pop star Dawin, a true internet sensation and the talent behind hits Just Girly Things and Dessert, is coming to New Zealand for shows in Auckland and Wellington in February.

The Brooklyn-born vocalist, producer, and multi-instrumentalist first turned heads with the 2014 viral smash Just Girly Things, which eventually racked up over 4.7 million Spotify streams and a cumulative total of over 41 million Vine loops in the span of just a year.

Once Just Girly Things exploded, Dawin had Buzzfeed profiling him and every major label knocking at his door. Following his signing to Casablanca Records, the track continued to gain heat. The music video also achieved instant success featuring six Vine stars with a reach over 11 million. It played during the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards, was featured in a TheTruth.org campaign, and in films such as Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 and Beyond The Lights as well as the trailer for Alexander and the No Good Horrible Day. Along the way, Dawin became an in-demand remixer, creating official remixes for top stars from Ariana Grande to Natalie La Rose.

The monumental success of his debut parlayed into his exponentially incendiary 2015 single, Dessert. He caused lightning to strike twice by tapping into his fervent fan base online and building an even bigger smash.

Dessert struts along on a propulsive beat driven by Dawin’s undeniable vocal hook just before spiraling out into a drop that’s instantly infectious. Upon release, it landed at #4 on iTunes Top Electronic Songs Chart and #1 on Shazam’s US Trending Chart in addition to soundtracking an episode of So You Think You Can Dance. Pretty Little Liars star Shay Mitchell snapchat featuring the single resulted in a huge upsurge in attention, with the single spending 14 weeks in the NZ Top 40 charts and gaining gold certification. It and it spread internationally with teen star Ella Cruz’s dance video fueling its rise to becoming the top song in the Philippines. A veritable dance craze, the song would average over 3.5 million plays per week on VEVO, even besting the performance of “Just Girly Things” online. In addition, the track’s official remix boasts a guest spot from red hot multi-platinum rap sensation Silentó of Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae) fame.

Dawin flips the script with everything he does. That’s definitely what happens every time he drops a track. He explains, “I want people to dance and feel uplifted. My message is to have fun and enjoy every moment of life.”

There are just two chances for Kiwis to experience Dawin bringing his trademark sense of fun and infectious dancefloor beats to this side of the globe. Don’t miss out on the party.
