Mondiale Aces make three changes for Canterbury clash

Media Release
Sunday, 15 February 2015

The Mondiale Auckland Aces have brought in batsman Glenn Phillips and bowlers Tarun Nethula and Lockie Ferguson to face Canterbury in the fifth round of the Plunket Shield starting tomorrow.

Nethula missed the last game through injury but is now back to full fitness, whilst Colin de Grandhomme sits this game out due to a troublesome knee. Vishi Jeet and Brett Randell are the two other players to drop out of the 12.

It’s the second game in a row that the Mondiale Aces will face the leaders in the Plunket Shield after Canterbury recorded an outright to leapfrog the Knights into top spot.

In the end the Mondiale Aces came within one delivery of matching that result against the Knights as they played out a thrilling last day draw that saw Northern clinging on nine wickets down at the conclusion of the game.

That ability to stay in the game till the very last ball is something that coach Matt Horne is looking for his side to continue on with.

“The way we stuck at it on a tough final day was very pleasing and it came really close to getting us the win. That kind of attitude and determination is what we need to replicate game in, game out for the rest of the season.”

A team for the game that starts at 10.30am tomorrow, 16 February, at MainPower Oval in Rangiora will be named from the following 12 players:

Michael Bates (Captain)
Dean Bartlett
Brad Cachopa
Carl Cachopa
Lockie Ferguson
Donovan Grobbelaar
Anaru Kitchen
Colin Munro
Tarun Nethula
Robert O’Donnell
Glenn Phillips
Jeet Raval
