The Mondiale
Auckland Aces have brought in batsmen Robbie O’Donnell and
Glenn Phillips for their preliminary semi-final clash with
the Central Stags in New Plymouth tomorrow.
Neither player has stepped out for the Mondiale Aces in the Ford Trophy so far this season and it would be a debut appearance for Phillips if he was selected tomorrow.
The Howick Pakuranga opening batsman has been scoring big runs as part of the title winning Auckland sides at both the National Provincial A and Under 19 tournaments and has got his call up on the back of that form.
The game at Pukekura Park presents a double opportunity for the Mondiale Aces – it’s a chance to book their spot in the Ford Trophy final, and also to make it a home final.
They will have to do it against a Central Stags side that has been in great form in the competition and on their home turf, but what they are up against is not concerning coach Matt Horne.
“When it comes down to one-off games it’s all about being confident in your own ability as an individual and executing as a team. If we do that as well as we possibly can then we’re going to give ourselves every chance of winning.”
The 13 named for the game that starts at 11am tomorrow, 24 January at Pukekura Park in New Plymouth is as follows:

Brad Cachopa
