LYNNMALL’S TEEN AMBASSADOR SEARCH
TAKES TO CATWALK FOR SECOND YEAR RUNNING
Young mentors, local fashionistas, budding runway models and community-conscious teens are once again being offered the opportunity to show west Auckland what they’re made of in LynnMall’s second annual Teen Ambassador Search.
The LynnMall Teen Ambassador Search is aimed at west Auckland girls aged 11 to 14 and 15 to 18, with winners of each category invited to feature in LynnMall’s 2015 advertising campaign and given the opportunity to take part in Vanity Walk’s auspicious modelling school.
In partnership with Vanity Walk, this year’s search will be held during the October school holidays and is aimed at drawing out teen ambassadors who truly reflect the family values synonymous with the spirited west Auckland region. More than a ‘skin-deep’ competition, Teen Ambassador Search organisers are excited to offer a contest that will celebrate local individuals with positive attitudes who are honourable, community-minded, reliable, sociable, fashion-conscious, confident and friendly.
As part of the search, local teens from surrounding areas are invited to register now in-centre to be considered for a spot in the top 35. From there, competitors will participate in runway heats in the hope of claiming a spot in the final fashion show’s top 20, where they will have the opportunity to build relationships with some of LynnMall’s fashion retailers.
With an added ‘community-minded’ element to this year’s competition, the Teen Ambassador Search is aligning with local rest homes to provide finalists with an opportunity to give back to their local area. In this ‘adopt a granny’ part of the programme, the chosen 35 girls will have the opportunity to accompany and converse with LynnMall’s elderly customers.
Last year’s 15-18 category winner Kate O’Gorman says she had a wonderful experience in the competition, especially meeting like-minded girls she wouldn’t have encountered otherwise.
“I loved being involved in the 2013 Teen Ambassador Search, from the makeup to the catwalk, the fashion and meeting others like me – every facet of the competition was amazing and we all had such a good time.
“It was a great feeling to win what was an awesome competition. As part of the overall prize, we were given the opportunity to take part in a week-long modelling course with Vanity Walk, which was so much fun. I learned a lot about what it’s like to be a model, how to do makeup for different skin tones, how to style myself. I’ve since educated a lot of my friends!”
Lauren Riley, LynnMall centre manager, was impressed with the calibre of local teen entrants in 2013, and is looking forward to seeing the talent that applies this year.
“Last year’s Teen Ambassador Search proved to be such a success that there was no option but to run it again! We found two winners who were very deserving of the Teen Ambassador title and are pleased that both Flo-Jo Adams and Kate O’Gorman are involved in this year’s competition, acting as mentors for the 2014 entrants.
“We think this year is going to be bigger and better than the last and are ready to welcome this year’s entrants and get to know the next west Auckland generation.”
How to enter:
Hopeful teens can visit LynnMall shopping centre between Monday 29 September and Wednesday 1 October, from 11am to 1pm, to register.
During these hours, a registration table will be located behind the Customer Services Desk at the staging area. Entrants must simply bring a head shot and provide general details such as height, shoe size etc. Further details will be posted on LynnMall’s Facebook page and the LynnMall website closer to the time.
