Rodriguez’ Wellington Opera House Date Moved To Wednesday 15 October
Legendary singer-songwriter RODRIGUEZ is returning to New Zealand this October for two shows in Auckland and Wellington. While the date of the Wellington performance at the Wellington Opera House was previously scheduled for 16 October, this show will now take place one day earlier on Wednesday 15 October 2014.
All patrons will be contacted by a Ticketek Representative regarding the date change via phone and/or follow-up email. All tickets that have been purchased for Thursday, 16 October are still valid for the new date.
Hailing from Detroit, Michigan, Rodriguez’s unique brand of folk rock unwittingly became an incredible success among a huge South African audience in the 1970s and onwards. This was unbeknownst to the man himself until the 1990s. His work exploded a worldwide scale with the 2012 Academy Award-winning documentary Searching for Sugar Man, which explored Rodriguez’s life as a labourer, philosopher and sometime politician in Detroit while his songs topped charts in South Africa, and false rumours circulated about his having committed suicide. Rodriguez, a self-taught musician, is outspoken about his fondness for antipodean audiences and is sure to impress both fans and new listeners alike.
