Mass Three-Legged Challenge to Support CanTeen
No young person should go through cancer alone and to raise awareness of this, CanTeen is hosting a challenge that is impossible to do alone.
A three--legged challenge will take place in Silo Park, the corner of Beaumont and Jellicoe Street, on Wednesday 10 September to kick off CanTeen’s annual ‘Never Alone’ appeal.
Silver Fern and CanTeen ambassador Maria Tutaia will be participating, tied to a CanTeen member.
They’ll all be led through the process by TV host Erin Simpson who is the MC for the event, which will take place between 12.30 and 1.30pm.
Kim Doran, CanTeen Communications Manager says the race is a fun way to promote the upcoming appeal.
“With no government funding, we rely on the generosity of Kiwis to allow CanTeen to continue supporting young people living with cancer.
We’re thrilled to have Maria and Erin involved with this three--legged challenge, which we hope will kick off the 2014 appeal in style and help raise awareness for CanTeen.
“This will be one of many fundraising activities happening across the country in the next two weeks and will culminate in the national street appeal on 19 September,” says Doran.
The challenge will involve a course around Silo Park for participants to complete in pairs.
There will be bandannas available for purchase at the event to tie participants together for the race.
There will be spot prizes up for grabs and an opportunity for members of the public to chat with Maria Tutaia and Erin Simpson following the event.
CanTeen’s mission is to support, develop, and empower young people living with cancer through a national peer support network, offering member support services that help young people through their journey and then to thrive beyond.
