Crossfit Games Athletes to Take the Stage in Wellington
Today tickets go on sale for The Wellington Cup 2014.
“We are delighted to bring this event to Wellington again,” says Wellington Cup Co-Director Alice Sciascia, who has just announced that world renowned CrossFit athlete and USA weightlifting representative, 20 year old Lauren Fisher from San Diego will be competing at this year’s event.
“So many New Zealanders are passionate about CrossFit, so we are excited to be hosting this event, providing an opportunity for people to watch some of the fittest athletes in the world perform in our home city.
A number of international Stars will be at the event. Fisher joins previously announced members of the "All Star" team, Lucas Parker from Canada, Wes Piatt also from the USA, and New Zealand's own Ruth Anderson Horrell from Invercargill.
“As a nation I believe we appreciate world class talent, and that is what’s coming here. The Wellington Cup will be some of the best CrossFit we have ever seen - it’s going to be huge,” says Co-Director Mike Young.
The Wellington Cup takes place over 2 days, 23 and 24 August at the Kilbirnie Recreation Centre in Wellington and features top representatives from across New Zealand and Australia. Athletes will participate in a range of CrossFit workouts, completing high intensity combinations of gymnastics, weightlifting and endurance tests as both individuals and teams.
