Burlesque Shenanigans to Be Had in Wellington
A new live burlesque gameshow called SHIMMY SHENANIGANS will be making its debut in Wellington on Saturday 16th August
at the Fringe Bar, Allen Street. Inspired by improv shows like ‘Whose Line Is It Anyway?’ and ‘Seven Days’ while combined with a bit of ‘Jackass’ and of
course, Burlesque Striptease, Shimmy Shenanigans is set to take theatre sports to a new audience and to a whole other
level.
Produced by Red Rascal Productions, the company behind the New Zealand Burlesque Festival, the idea was spawned after
owners Kerry and Daniel Rodda, wanted to create a more unusual burlesque show. “Having seen some of the shenanigans that
occur backstage, we thought it was time to bring them to the stage. We may be giving our ‘contestants’ the rules but
really, no one knows how crazy it might get!”.
Starting at 8.30pm, some of the improv performances will include extracts from Mills and Boon novels, an interpretive
tease section, unique use of burlesque props, and the ‘Not-your-talent’ talent show. Special guest ‘games master’ Little
Miss Broadway, from Auckland, will be joined by Wellingtons burlesque favourite Fanciforia Foxglove, Drag King,
Anglebert Humpermink, as well as former Miss Burlesque NZ 2011, Miss Bettsy Rose Lee from Hamilton as some of the
unsuspecting participants.
Tickets available from Eventfinder. Doors open 7.30 pm. Doorsales available.
