Leading Nelson Actors Join Pipe Band Extravaganza

Celtic Pipe Band’s incredibly successful, Braveheart - The Concert.
This year the Celtic Pipe Band’s upping the ante and taking an incredible 420-year-old slice of history, including two
of Nelson’s top actors, adding bagpipes, rock music, a dance troupe of more than 20, then topping it off with special
effects, all to create a show that won’t be forgotten; Mary, Queen of Scots opens in Nelson’s Theatre Royal next month.
Hot on the heels of last year’s sell-out show with its standing ovation, the band is preparing to bring Mary, Queen of
Scots to life on the Theatre Royal stage, and to avoid the disappointment of many who missed the show last time, this
year, two shows have been scheduled.
Producer Helen Gilchrist says researching the story of Mary Stuart has been an absolute eye opener.

France, Scotland and England.“Helen says the crowning glory of this year’s production is the inclusion of leading Nelson
theatrical talent Mike Williams and Liz Woodall.

With the complete Celtic Pipe Band and talented soloists playing both traditional and contemporary music, a full rock
band, alongside top highland dancing talent from Nelson and the West Coast, Mary, Queen of Scots will take the audience
deep into the pages of history.
Helen says, like an intricate tartan from the Scottish Highlands, the show will be woven with incredible vocalists, rock
music all supported by a full lighting rig and multi-media experience. Mary, Queen of Scots is a show is guaranteed to
entertain young and old alike.
