Dunedin (Tuesday, 8 July 2014) – As part of the Cadbury Chocolate Carnival, Keep Dunedin Beautiful will once again be hosting Recyclia – an art competition where participants make artworks out of material that would otherwise be recycled. The 13 categories range from under eight years of age right through to adult.
Participants can enter either a sculpture or a wall hanging made out of reusable or As well as a prize for each category winner, there will also be a people’s choice award and, for the first time, a TerraCycle award for an artwork made from Cadbury Registration packs are still available from the DCC Customer Services Centre in the Civic Centre, or by phoning 03 477 4000. Registration closes on 11 July.
The entries will be displayed in the foyer on the ground floor of the Dunedin City Library from 14 to 17 July. The prizegiving will be held at 3pm on Thursday, 17 July.
Theatre Group
22 July – 22 August
From 22 July, Keep Dunedin Beautiful will be sending a professional theatre group to primary schools passing on messages of minimising waste, taking personal responsibility for waste, and reusing and recycling containers. The group will also be including an anti-graffiti message. All of this will be done with music, song and humour.
This talented group includes director Siale Tvuoka and actors Heidi Geissler, Hadley Taylor and Ngahiriwa Rauhina. A schedule of the performances is available from Keep This successful theatre project was a recent finalist in the Green Ribbon Awards. Its popularity has meant that, for the first time, the actors will also perform in Wellington schools for a week.
