Kaikoura Summersounds Music Festival is back January 17/18th2015 and once again brings you the best Aotearoa has on offer in funk, blues, reggae and dance music. The festival will be returning to the same majestic site as 2014, where the mountains meet the sea.
Kora headline the Saturday evening with their legendary live show taking you on a sonic journey to the stars and beyond. The godfathers of drum and bass in Aotearoa, The Upbeats follow with their dance floor stompers and the one and only Tiki Taane on the mic and world renowned producer Opiuo will bring his monster funk live and direct.
Also on the Saturday Aaron Tokona brings his stonking Ahoribuzz ensemble along to funk up the dance floor with North Island reggae groovers Newtown Rocksteady and Knights of the Dub Table bringing us their kiwi reggae sound with massive horn sections and dance floor friendly grooves. Renowned live act Soulsystem also show off their original mix of soul and dub.
Sunshine Sound System will mash it up with their lively MCs and phat grooves and Reality Chant with Israel Starr will keep it real with their irie tunes and quality vocals.
Sunday brings us the two man blues roots juggernaut Swamp Thing and the amazingly talented Tali, who is taking a break from MCing to perform her live show. Sunday also features the solid neo soul grooves of Apollo Suite and the rising star Estère with her MPC Lola and truly unique live act. Wellington's Fraser Ross brings along his party gypsy rock ably accompanied by his band the Felt Tips.
Also showcasing their styles over the 2 days will be Christchurch reggae risers One Waka, the shaky city roots regulars Merchants Of Flow and Dunedin’s highly acclaimed dancefloor reggae rousers Summer Thieves.
New on the scene and not to be missed on the Saturday will be Rosadub, the vocal sweetheart with the danceable reggae vibe. The wee hours will be dance floor friendly with dub step, breaks and glitch hop from K+Lab and P.Smitty.
