West-Coast Rapper Yg Heads to New Zealand for One Show
Robin Fernando and Flava are thrilled to announce the hotly anticipated West-Coast rapper YG is heading to Auckland for one show in Auckland city this September.
Compton rapper YG has already established himself as one of the most exciting young Hip-Hop artists from the West Coast. Snatching badges on the Top 20 on Billboard Hot 100 charts, 500,000 single downloads in one month and over 21 million views on YouTube, building a dedicated following worldwide.
Having carved up a lane of his own in 2013 with his catchy single “My Nigga” featuring Jeezy and Rich Homie Quan, YG then went on to release a series of killer mixtapes before dropping his critically acclaimed major –debut album, My Krazy Life.
Released through historic Def Jam Records, My Krazy Life has garnered this LA-anthemist significant hype status around the globe. Working alongside LA’s beatcraft god DJ Mustard, the duo have received a solid nod from the likes of Pitchfork, “The opening fanfares on My Krazy Life's tracks are gossamer but massive, like a blindside smack from a pillow.” The pair teamed up back in 2012 to work on YG-DJ Mustard mixtapes like “Just Re’d Up 2” and “4 Hunnid Degreez,” and continue to demonstrate a cohesive energy working together.
With subtle, pointed references to West Coast classics throughout the album, YG has delivered a body of work that pays homage his immediate surroundings whilst showing off his ability to powerfully weave a ‘bigger picture’ narrative throughout his lyrics. Drawing upon strong underlying themes of backyard parties, home life, gangs and self-realisation, YG reveals Compton recklessness and rebelliousness at its best.
With major guest appearances from Kendrick Lamar, Drake Rich Homie Quan, TeeFlii, Ty Dolla Sign, and newcomer Tory Lanez, My Krazy Life is a seamless, cohesive offering of LA G-Funk, Atlanta snap and Bay Area hyphy.
Off the back of his groundbreaking release, New Zealand fans can expect a banging show from this act. Tickets will sell fast.
Tickets are on sale via Dash Tickets.
