Matariki Kapa Haka entry date extended
There’s still time to enter the 2degrees Kapa Haka Super 12s with the closing date extended to Friday June 13. Hosted by Auckland Council, the event was one of the most popular events at last year’s Matariki festival attracting an impressive range of talent from throughout Aotearoa.
With the opportunity to show off their creativity, teams of 12 compete for 12 minutes to win their share of $12,000 cash and some fabulous prizes.
The event showcases a modern interpretation of kapa haka where teams are given creative licence to produce a fresh, high-energy performance of their interpretation on traditional Māori performing arts.
Auckland Council has extended the entry date to June 13 but teams need to get in quick as spots are limited. It’s time to start practicing if you want to be in to win a share of the prize money.
Teams can enter on the official Matariki website www.matarikifestival.org.nz.
