Whats been happening with the Ultimate Road Race?
Targa North Island 2014:
Thanks again to everyone involved in another successful Targa event. The weather was superb for the whole three days and the feedback we have received from the event structure has been nothing but positive. Everyone seemed to enjoy the mix of the Coromandel Roads with the Bay of Plenty roads and it was great to get back to the Coromandel after a break. The good news is that we are working with council to formalize the Coromandel into the Targa calendar. A big Congratulations to all our winners and make sure you check out the results on the website.
The inaugural Annual Targa awards evening was a fantastic evening where we raised nearly $6k for Kids in Cars Charity. A big thank you to everyone who attended and those that spent up large on the auction items. It was fabulous to see the majority of our sponsors there and all the tables full. Congratulations to the winners of the Series Campione a well deserved effort by all and we apologize for the delay in the ceremony date. The Simunovich Olive Estate was a beautiful venue with fabulous food and we have a great selection of photos of cars amongst the olive trees from Chris Smith at Freshly whipped on our Targa Facebook page.
Thanks to our photographers that stepped in at such short notice to cover the event after a last minute pull out from Groundsky. All of these photos can be found on the Targa Facebook page and soon to be website. Proshotz is offering a Targa special for this event, go to http://www.proshotz.com/ for a selection of photos from the event, search your car number in the front page search box. You can also email ben@proshotz.com for an Event C.D for just $65 including postage and packaging. Don’t miss out on these fabulous deals. Remember to check out the event footage that is up on the front page of our website www.taga.co.nz, this will take you to a number of the event updates from Engine Block TV.
Once again Targa NZ would like to thank all of our volunteers as you are the backbone for Targa events to operate. We appreciate the hard work you put in and especially on those early cold mornings. We were hit with a very foggy cold morning for the first stage in Rotorua on Sunday. The temperature was -1degrees as we drove through this stage in a thick blanket of fog, but our volunteers still had big smiles on their faces and managed to dress up in some quirky costumes. As per usual our event debrief will be held for all major officials on Sunday the 15th of June, 11am at the Targa office so please let us know if you cannot attend.
