Calling for Upper Hutt Civic Award nominations
Nominations are being called for to be considered in time for this year’s Upper Hutt Civic Award.
Upper Hutt, 17 April 2014 - Nominations for Upper Hutt City Civic Awards are open all year round, but 30 May will mark the closing point for this year’s consideration. Nominations received after this date will be considered next year.
Any resident of Upper Hutt who has carried out meritorious voluntary community service for the City of Upper Hutt is eligible for nomination.
In order to make a nomination, nominators will be required fill out a nomination form. The form is available for download from on Council’s website at www.upperhuttcity.com/Civic-Awards or can be obtained from Council’s reception at the Civic Centre on Fergusson Drive.
The nomination must be signed by at least two residents of Upper Hutt, or if the nomination is from an Upper Hutt organisation, it must be signed by at least two executive members of that organisation.
It is not necessary to obtain prior consent of the person being nominated. If a nomination is successful, the nominee will be contacted to ascertain whether he or she wishes to accept the award.
Decisions as to who should receive an award are made by the Civic Awards Committee, which is made up of the Mayor, two Upper Hutt City Councillors, and two community representatives. The Civic Awards Committee will meet in June to consider the nominations.
The winner will be invited to a special function at the Mayor’s office in July or August where the Award will be presented.
