Bic Runga to perform for Royal duo at Avantidrome Opening
The Home of Cycling Charitable Trust is thrilled to announce that Bic Runga will perform at the Avantidrome Opening, New
Zealand’s National Cycling Centre of Excellence, on Saturday 12 April for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Olympians
and guests.
One of New Zealand’s iconic musicians, Bic Runga will perform some of her well-known tunes.
Geoff Balme, CEO for Home of Cycling says the event is proving to be incredibly popular, with an additional 150 tickets
released to cope with demand.
“Tickets have sold incredibly quickly and we’re expecting it to sell out due to the popularity of people being able to
see the royals as well as our elite sportspeople all in one place. It’s great to see sporting and royal fans combine.
“There’ll be plenty of entertainment for guests to enjoy including; track cycling from New Zealand riders who are going
to the Commonwealth Games, cycling demonstrations, a parade of cycling champions and now, our beautiful music from our
Kiwi songstress Bic Runga. We’re really excited about what will unfold on the day.
“It puts Cambridge and the Waikato on the map as a key area of sporting opportunity and excellence, which we’re
incredibly proud of.”
The opening is a three hour extravaganza to celebrate cycling. Doors open at 11am with the ceremony beginning at midday.
The Duke and Duchess are expected to be at the Avantidrome from 1.45-2.45pm.
