Late addition to Autumn Events Weekend
Late addition to Autumn Events Weekend
A special
screening of independent film, Teatro Amazonas (1999), has
been added to the New Zealand International Film Festival's
Autumn Events, a weekend of classic movies at the Regent
Theatre (12 & 13 April).
Set in a grand opera house located in Manaus, in the heart of the Amazon Rainforest in Brazil, Teatro Amazonas consists of a single half-hour shot of a native audience listening to a piece of avant-garde music (scored by Becky Allen).
Presented by the Media, Film and Communication Department at the University of Otago, this is the only screening of this unique film in New Zealand. A not to be missed opportunity to view the work of internationally recognised contemporary visual artist Sharon Lockhart in the surrounds of the Regent Theatre.
A five minute introduction will be given at the start of the screening. The screening will be followed by a round table discussion at the Dunedin Public Art Gallery at 1pm with Jonathan Marshall (Performing Arts, University of Otago) and Mark Bolland & David Green (Otago Polytechnic).
