Sport Wellington’s Event Director James King says that “there have been some strong performances in 2013/14 and these will no doubt be well represented in the nominations. Some notable efforts that spring to mind include Martin Knight winning the NZ squash Champs, Samantha Lee’s performances at the German Cup for Surf Lifesaving and the Wellington Rugby 7’s team winning the national title.”

“Sport Wellington cannot nominate so we are reliant on the general public, media, sports organisations and clubs to recognise their champions by nominating them in the awards. If you know of someone eligible, get your nominations in now and make sure they get the recognition they deserve” says King.

This year’s event will be held at the TSB Bank Arena on 12 June with ticket sales and table bookings available in early May.
Anyone can nominate at www.wellingtonsportsawards.co.nz or join the debate on Twitter by following @SportWgtn or using #DomPostSportsAwards. Nominations close on Friday 5 May at 5pm and finalists are announced on 16 May in The Dominion Post.
