Schoolboy Puna wins another shears title
Manawatu high school student Connor Puha celebrated another successful day away from the classroom by winning the
national Novice shearing final in Te Kuiti.
The first title decided at the three-day championships which started on Thursday, it was his fifth of the season, and
completed a meritorious double after his Golden Shears Novice final win four weeks ago.
But Puha, from Kimbolton and a pupil at nearby Feilding High School, missed out on a chance for a unique double, when he
was eliminated from the senior woolhandling event in the heats. Just before the Golden Shears he won the North Island
Circuit senior woolhandling title.
