Auckland Cricket: Aces take unchanged 12 to Invercargill
The Aces will take an unchanged twelve to Invercargill to take on the Otago Volts in round six of the Ford Trophy on
Wednesday.
The effects of Cyclone Lusi meant that the Aces last round match against the Canterbury Wizards was a complete washout
and with only three rounds remaining both sides will be keen for points to try and secure themselves a semi-final spot.
The Aces remain in third place just one point behind the Wizards and now face the Otago Volts who are languishing at the
bottom of the table.
However with four teams qualifying for the semi-finals there is plenty of motivation for their opposition, as Aces coach
Matt Horne is well aware.
"It's always a very tight competition and basically no team is ever out of it, so I'm sure Otago will be coming at us
hard to try and get themselves back in contention."
Horne also knows that a win for his side is vital to generate some momentum back into their Ford Trophy campaign.
"We obviously need the points but I also think that it's really important if you do make the playoff games to be on a
good run of form as it gives you that extra confiudence heading in."
The game starts at 10.30am Wednesday at Queens Park, Invercargill.
