Sochi 2014 Paralympic Winter Games now accessible to all through free Internet coverage
AttitudeLive and Invacare New Zealand are proud to launch a new internet TV initiative broadcasting the Paralympic Winter Games, aiming to provide extended and uncut online coverage of the games.
Attitude Pictures is currently broadcasting to New Zealand audiences with 44 hours of free coverage and highlights packages from Sochi 2014, 7-16 March via its new web platform AttitudeLive.com.
The Invacare sponsorship was announced at a function at Snowplanet, north of Auckland, last night where media and guests had the opportunity to watch a live Alpine skiing demonstration by former Paralympian Peter (Pete) Williams.
The audience watched live as Kiwi athletes Adam Hall and Corey Peters competed in Sochi.
Offering accessible coverage to niche audiences was a key driver in Invacare New Zealand's decision to become a broadcast sponsor of Attitude Pictures coverage of the Paralympic Winter Games.
David Jeffries, Marketing Brand Manager for Invacare, said they are driven by the philosophy of 'making life's experiences possible' for people with disabilities.
"The ability to offer the disability community live coverage of para sporting events half a world away is simply bringing people with disabilities another form of mobility, a new life experience," said Mr. Jeffries.
"For children to be able to watch their heroes perform and be inspired, and for family, friends and supporters to see and support their athletes in action is an enormous benefit to the community and one we're proud to help make happen," he said.
The Sochi 2014 Paralympic Winter Games takes place between 7 -16 March and features around 600 athletes from 44 countries. They are competing in more than 72 medal events across five sports – alpine skiing, biathlon, cross-country skiing, ice sledge hockey and wheelchair curling.
The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) recently awarded the host broadcast rights in New Zealand to Attitude Pictures Ltd (APL), an award-winning independent production company specialising in content featuring people with disabilities.
